Splash Pad & Wet Deck Coatings
Textured, barefoot-friendly coatings for splash pads, spray decks, wet play areas and pool surrounds.
Splash pads get the worst of both worlds: constant water, constant bare feet, and usually small kids running on them. The surface has to grip when wet without being rough enough to tear up knees and feet, and it has to hold color under UV and chlorinated spray. That's a narrow window, and it's why splash pad surfaces fail so often.
Splash Pad & Wet Deck Coating Services
• Splash pad recoating — strip and recoat a faded, chalking or slick splash pad surface with a textured aquatic system.
• Spray deck and wet play area coatings — the wet zones around features, and the transitions into dry deck.
• Color and graphics — multi-color layouts, zone colors, game and activity graphics, feature surrounds.
• Slip remediation — adding texture to a pad that's gotten slick without redoing the whole surface.
• Cushioned and comfort systems — where a softer surface is specified for a play area.
Barefoot texture is its own problem
On a pool deck, adults in sandals will tolerate an aggressive texture. On a splash pad, kids are sliding across it on their knees. We build the texture to grip wet without being abrasive — a fine, uniform profile rather than a coarse one. And because it's a surface people sit and lie on, we also look at heat: lighter colors and the right topcoat make a real difference on an outdoor pad in July.
Color that holds up
Splash pads are the most colorful surface in most facilities and also the most UV-exposed. Aquatic-rated systems use pigments and topcoats built to hold color under UV and chlorine. If your pad has gone from bright to pastel, that's the coating breaking down — not dirt.
Splash Pad & Wet Deck Coatings Process
1. Inspect and test — what's on there, is it bonded, how slick is it, where is it failing.
2. Written scope with the system, the texture level and the colors spelled out.
3. Shot blast to profile, and repair cracks, spalls and feature transitions.
4. Mask features, drains and sprayheads.
5. Prime, then build the system with texture broadcast to the agreed level.
6. Color and graphics layout.
7. Cure, clean, and walk it with you before the water goes back on.
Splash Pad & Wet Deck Coating Questions
Our pad is slick — do we need a whole new surface?
Not always. If the coating is still bonded, we may be able to add texture to it.
Can you put our logo or a game layout on it?
Yes. Multi-color layouts and graphics are part of the work.
How long is the pad out of service?
Typically a few days depending on size and cure. We schedule around your season.
Will the texture be rough on kids' feet?
It shouldn't be — that's the point of choosing the texture level deliberately. We can show you samples to feel before you decide.
